An ergonomist can:

  • Conduct scientific research in the field of ergonomics.
  • Use knowledge of ergonomics for practical applications.

Education for an ergonomist

Not everyone who calls themselves an ergonomist has the same level of education, which can vary from a course with practical training to a university study.

An ergonomics course can be useful for practical information, but it does not provide the insight of a scientific study.
A limited knowledge often gives the feeling of knowing everything about something, after years of university studies you know that it is somewhat more complex.

During and after my studies in ergonomics, I dug through the necessary cupboard shelves with scientific books, which gives a good insight into the factors that are important for ergonomics.

Unfortunately, many people are employed as ergonomist but do not have sufficient theoretical knowledge.
